Restoring deleted pictures to your memory card

The need to undelete pictures from SD card media has grown tenfold in the last five years. This is due primarily to the increased popularity of high end digital cameras as replacement for traditional single lens reflex film type photography. The process of transferring digital image files from one’s camera memory card, also known as an SD card, can be quite lengthy in time taken and if anything should interrupt that downloading process, file corruption is likely to result.

The offshoot of this file corruption is the need to recover deleted photos from SD card media. We note that a simple data recovery program for finding and saving of files on one’s internal computer hard drive will not suffice for this purpose as they generally are not designed to recognize the proprietary file types initially used by digital camera manufacturers. While almost any data recovery program can recognize familiar image file formats such as jpegs and jpgs, only programs specifically created for digital photography file recovery will recognize and recover proprietary image file formats as issued by top brand camera manufacturers. Software to solve the problem of an overloaded Outlook inbox

Microsoft Outlook stores sent and received messages in a special type of database known as a PST file. At the time of its inception many years ago, the 2 GB size limitation of the Outlook PST file seemed as if it could never be exceeded. Today, with many messages containing embedded graphics and attachments, the 2 GB size limitation of the Microsoft Outlook inbox is so regularly exceeded that users find themselves deleting emails just to make space for new messages. When one forgets to do this and literally over stuffs the Outlook inbox, the inbox itself becomes corrupted and will no longer allow access.

A common method to repair 2GB PST file information that has been corrupted is to basically lop off the bottom half of the information the file contained so as to hopefully return one’s Microsoft Outlook application to operation. Obviously this is a poor solution. Better programs designed to repair 2GB Outlook inbox problems will divide the Microsoft Outlook inbox into smaller pieces that are each individually accessible. This is done by the scripting the Outlook access tables. Read the rest of this entry »

Restoring Outlook 2000 deleted emails

Microsoft tends to upgrade their product line on a continuing basis and then reintroduce their products as if it were something new. The perfect example of this would be Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft Outlook is the world’s most popular email system and has been around for almost 15 years. One of the earliest versions of Microsoft Outlook is Outlook 2000. Outlook 2000 introduced the Microsoft personal storage file or what is commonly called the PST file.

Since the year 2000, the operating controls used to store messages in the Microsoft Outlook PST file have changed dramatically. We adjust to these changes when we upgrade to a newer version of Microsoft Outlook. Unfortunately, when we do this we also corrupt the existing files and in many instances render our version of Microsoft Outlook inoperable. When this problem occurs we need to use an Outlook recovery program that will allow us to recover Outlook 2000 PST file information. This same software will enable us to recover deleted items from Outlook PST file storage created using any version of Microsoft Outlook. Read the rest of this entry »

Restoring files in Microsoft’s free email client

Outlook Express is the free email client that comes included with certain versions of the Windows operating system. Overall it is a pretty good email processor but like its big brother Microsoft Outlook, it is not without its drawbacks. To begin with there are file size limitations on Outlook Express folders. These folders which bear the file extension DBX as the proprietary file format for Microsoft Outlook Express can easily become corrupted or simply lost due to accidental deletion. In fact because the graphic layout of Outlook Express allows one the option of deleting a folder as well as a specific message, very often one deletes their entire Outlook Express DBX folder mailbox with just a single click of their mouse.

Fortunately, Remo software makes an excellent program to recover a lost folder in Outlook Express. Within minutes, even the most inexperienced computer user can use this robust and powerful program to find and recover a lost folder in Outlook Express DBX storage. Bear in mind that even when using the best data recovery tools there can be instances where file corruption is too great to be overcome. In these situations, Remo software will still be able to help you recover deleted emails from Outlook Express. This is accomplished by the software’s ability to open DBX folders and allow one to read and copy the EML file contained within.

Restoring order to your Outlook mail inbox

The phrase corrupted PST repair refers to damage incurred within the Microsoft Outlook PST file. This single file holds all of your Microsoft Outlook messages and operational applications. Basically this is an early database system and as with all databases it uses tables to define actions and implement access to stored information. Should another program inadvertently write to and change the access tables on your PST file, the inbox will become corrupted and your messages will be, for the time being, lost.

Fortunately, Remo software makes an excellent program to repair Outlook inbox corruption. Remo Software’s Outlook recovery program will repair your Microsoft Outlook inbox and give you access to stored emails. The program also allows one to export the contents of their PST file to an external location and when desired import that information into a Microsoft Outlook application on another computer or network. No other program for Microsoft Outlook repair works as well as the Remo software program to reconstruct your PST file and recover 100% of all your lost Outlook emails.

Using the proper tool to recover data on hard drives

The data recovery tool required to recover data from external hard drive storage is exactly the same tool used to recover files from crashed hard drive components. However, the use of these programs for each of these specified purposes is completely different. The effort required to recover data from external hard drive storage is far less than that required for crashed hard drive recovery. Recovery of lost or damaged files from an external hard drive or other external digital storage media begins by downloading onto your computer a quality general purpose file recovery program. These are available from Remo software for all of the currently in use operating systems and in support of every major computer manufacturer’s hardware. Once this program is downloaded and installed, all one need do is use the helpful wizard style interface included in the program to choose the type of files we’re looking for and where we suspect they may be.

Data recovery of files stored on a crashed hard drive requires an extra step of downloading and installing this same data recovery program onto a second working computer and directing that program on that computer to open your crashed hard drive. This works because in 95% of all instances failed hard drives deny access simply due to loss of operating system files. By connecting through any working computer you have the benefit of that computer’s working operating system and the ability of your data recovery program to recognize deleted files for recovery.

Rescuing important deleted files and digital media

The steps needed to be followed for deleted documents file recovery are almost identical to those required to recover deleted video files. When attempting any type of data recovery it is important to remember that a file is a file is a file. The only difference between them is their structural content and the extension attached to each. In terms of choosing a file recovery program this is an important distinction.

Most quality data recovery programs such as those offered by Remo software are designed to recognize all of the popular and currently in use file types such as Microsoft Word documents or Microsoft Excel accounting files. If a program for file recovery is designed to recognize video file types such as .AVIs and .MOVs then the search and recover program will quickly find those recently deleted video files and place them on a list of recoverable information. An interesting exception to this is the recovery of digital camera RAW files. These are special file types created by each high end camera manufacturer such as Canon or Nikon. To locate and recover these files one must purchase a specific digital photo recovery program that addresses the recognition of these file types.

Two common sources of confusion in data management

There are two issues related to data recovery that seem to confuse many computer owners. The first is the process required to recover deleted files from external hard drive storage. For some reason many computer users do not understand that an external hard drive or any other type of external digital media is actually easier to recover files from than their desktop or laptop computer’s internal hard drive. The reason for this quite simple. When attempting to recover lost or deleted files from your computer’s internal hard drive, the very process of downloading the data recovery program onto your computer may erase the files you are hoping to recover. Files lost on an external drive cannot be overwritten during the data recovery program installation process.

The second issue that many computer owners do not understand is what is required to delete files forever. Simply emptying your Windows recycle bin or directly deleting a file from external digital storage does not erase the underlying file information. To delete files forever you must overwrite the information in the area of your hard drive that held the original file. The best way to do this is to use a file shredder program that purposely writes new random information onto the file areas.

A simple tool for PST file repair

Very often when discussing the Microsoft Outlook email client application you’ll see the phrase PST repair or recover Outlook PST. What these refer to is recovery of lost emails when using Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft Outlook stores all of its archived messages and other application functions in a special file known as a PST. This PST file is actually a small database into which the Microsoft application writes.

While generally Microsoft Outlook and the PST file are reliable, they do have special limitations. One of these is that the PST file has a size limit of 2 GB. Should you exceed that size limit, what can best be described as spillage will result. To say this more simply, you will lose emails. When you lose emails while using Microsoft Outlook, all you need to recover them his a PST repair tool. These programs to recover Outlook PST data will allow you to locate messages within the PST file and reconstruct the Microsoft Outlook inbox.

Recovery of data on Mac computers

Software programs to recover Mac Data are quite different than those used to recover lost or deleted Windows files. The primary reason for this is that, when used for partition recovery, Mac data recovery tools have two extra steps they must pass through before they can access and recover file information from the Mac computer’s internal hard drive. These two steps are part of the Mac OS X operating system known as disk initialization and disk verification. They require the operating system to check and verify that the directory structure of the computer’s hard drive is in perfect working order.

Of course the entire point in purchasing and using a data recovery tool is usually because hard drive access has been denied. This happens when hard drive accessing files on your computer, be it a Mac or Windows based PC, become corrupted and are registered as missing. A Mac data recovery tool will be able to bypass the call for disk verification and immediately access stored files on your Mac computer’s hard drive.

Restoring lost data from SD cards and PCs

It is amazing how few people who own computers are aware that when they accidentally delete a file or when their computer, acting almost on its own, deletes valuable information they can easily recover data that has been lost. Using fast, powerful and effective file recovery programs such as those offered by Remo software, one of the world’s most respected personal computer tool developers, anyone regardless of their level of computer expertise can restore lost data from SD card storage, find digital image files that were corrupted during transfer, and even locate Microsoft Word files that were improperly saved.

Using a modern data recovery program one can even copy and recover all of the data stored on their entire hard drive. This includes newer drives as large as 640 GB in size. These better quality programs to recover deleted files can search through an entire computer internal hard drive in just a few minutes and return a list of recoverable files that might include as many as one million separate folders.

Backing up Outlook data to prevent loss of important emails

As fast as quality antivirus software companies such as AVG and Kaspersky find and register new destructive computer viruses, the makers of those malware programs seem to be able to create even more dangerous programs. If the best computer antivirus writers in the world cannot defeat these programs, what is the average computer user like you or I supposed to do to protect our precious stored files such as Microsoft Outlook emails? The best way to protect any type of file is to back up your information in a safe location on a regular scheduled basis. Obviously no one has time to manually copy and save all of their Microsoft Outlook information on an hourly basis.

But still the idea of needing to migrate Outlook profile information to protect one’s messages is a sound one. The solution to this is to use an automated program designed to backup Outlook files. These programs can be set to backup all of your Microsoft Outlook information on a schedule that you determine. No one likes to have to reload information when their computer has been infected with a virus. But it is the most sure fire method of removing the virus and saving your files.

Do all permanent deletion programs deliver on their claims?

When purchasing a program to permanently delete files, how does one determine whether or not that program is actually performing its claimed application. The objective of a drive wipe or file shredder program is to overwrite the areas of your hard drive or other digital storage with random patterns of information many times over. This reduces the original file content to gibberish. So how then does one make certain that the information they have permanently erased from their computer is completely wiped clean?

A very simple method to test the effectiveness of a drive wipe program is to follow up that drive wipe with a quick scan using a data recovery tool. To save time you can create a file such as a Microsoft Word document, delete that file and then direct your file recovery tool to find it. You’ll notice that most quality data recovery programs can quickly and easily locate a recently deleted Microsoft Word document. Now take the same document and run it through your file shredder program. If you attempt to use the data recovery program on it now, the recovery process should fail and you have proven that the program you brought to permanently delete files is operating.

The numerous types of email recovery

There are many facets to email recovery. The basic premise of email recovery is simply, how does one recover accidentally deleted emails or corrupted and lost email messages? The process begins by figuring out which type of email you’re using. These are divided into two different areas. The first is email that is sent and received by an email client operating from your computer. This application connects to your Internet gateway which may be anything from a private email address, as is usually given to you by your Internet Service provider, such as Comcast or Roadrunner. This email client may also be connected to the Internet to a web based email such as Yahoo or AOL.

In each case, most of the formative control of your sending and receiving emails is done through the e-mail client application which serves as an interface or liaison if you will between yourself and your Internet access. There are economically priced programs to recover accidentally deleted emails that are specifically designed to rescue files lost while using email clients. Examples of these email clients would be Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express. The other most common type of email is purely web based free email whereby you must sign onto your email account to send and receive messages directly from that portal. Email recovery from this type of web based email is extremely difficult if not impossible.

Recovery of digital images in all file formats

On the surface digital photo recovery seems to be no more difficult than the recovery of any other type of accidentally deleted or corrupted file. One purchases and downloads a quality file recovery program and directs that program to scan through their entire computer hard drive. The scan should return a listing of all recoverable digital image files of the types commonly associated with digital photos. These would include JPGs, jpegs, GIFs, etc. The process of recovering digital photo images should be no more difficult than recovering Word documents, emails or any other commonly used file type. What marks digital photo recovery as more difficult is not what takes place after you have successfully downloaded your photographs from your digital camera onto your computer’s internal hard drive.

What makes recovery of digital image files different and difficult is that very often we assume a successful transfer of our precious photographs only to discover later that many of our images were incomplete. That being the case, the process to recover digital photos requires us to go back to our digital camera’s memory card and search through that media for the original stored digital photographs. These will most likely be in the camera manufacturer’s proprietary format known as a RAW file. When you purchase a program for digital photo recovery, make sure that program will recognize and recover RAW files.

Recover deleted files from laptop hard drive storage

Often we are asked how to recover data from laptop hard drive digital storage. To recover deleted files from laptop hard drive storage you’ll need a powerful third party data recovery program. Don’t be fooled by programs that are obsolete promising to recover files that were accidentally deleted from your laptop computer’s hard disk drive. Those programs may have worked when laptop computer hard drives were only 20 gigabytes in size, but with many laptop computers having huge hard disk drives equivalent to those used on desktop computers, nowadays only a recently developed up to the minute data recovery program is usable.

Consider that older programs used to recover deleted files from laptop hard drive components can only scan for and recover files at a rate of 30 to 50 GB per hour. If your laptop has a 500 GB drive you would have to wait 10 hours to receive the results of the initial scan. You would then have to sort through the recoverable files and if most of them needed to be saved to external storage wait an additional period of time for their recovery process. Better programs for laptop hard drive recovery can scan a 250 GB laptop computer hard drive in just a few minutes and then recover any or all selected files in an even shorter amount of time.

A program to enable repair of DBX mail information

DBX files are a proprietary file type used by Microsoft Outlook Express. Outlook Express is the starter version of Microsoft Outlook, the world’s most popular e-mail client. Unlike its big brother program Outlook, which stores emails and e-mail applications in a specific data base known as a PST file, Outlook Express stores messages and applications in individual files using the DBX extension. There are two particular problems that occur when dealing with Outlook Express DBX files. Both of these require a program to repair DBX information. The first is that simply transferring DBX files from one media to another such as when emailing a DBX file as an attachment or sending it through a network very often results in corruption of the file itself.

The second problem that occurs with DBX files and consequently relates to Microsoft Outlook Express is that like all proprietary Microsoft applications one cannot open and access DBX files unless one has installed on their computer the proper DBX application. Obviously it is difficult to repair Outlook Express DBX file information if one cannot find or open the files. For this reason there are targeted powerful data recovery programs built specifically for Outlook Express recovery.

The quick and efficient Remo data eraser

If you think that deleting or even reformatting your computer’s hard drive or other digital media will permanently erase the information of files stored on them, you are completely wrong. When you delete a file, either purposefully or accidentally, all that occurs is that the Windows operating system marks the space that file occupied as available to be overwritten. Unless and until new information is written over that data, the file information can be recovered using basic data recovery software. This means that anyone with access to your computer can read and copy all of your private information. This same situation occurs when one reformats a drive. Reformatting merely marks all available space as empty. But, as with file deletion, until you overwrite the data’s sectors on that drive, the information can be recovered. This is fine when one wants to recover lost files, but when we are trying to permanently remove information from our computer’s hard drive, we need a more powerful solution. That solution is the Remo data eraser.

The Remo data eraser allows you to easily choose either individual files or to wipe data from hard drive storage in it’s entirety and permanently erase all of the information you need to discard. This is done by overwriting the stored information in a random pattern many times over. This is essentially the same as tearing up a piece of paper with records on it into millions of tiny pieces and tossing those pieces into the wind.
